National Life Insurance Company - Life Insurance

About National Life Insurance Company

The flagship of the enterprise, National Life Insurance Company, was established in Montpelier, Vermont in 1850 and is licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. From its very beginnings, National Life has been one of the innovators of life insurance in America, having introduced a number of improvements that are now regular features of policies sold by a number of insurers. Over the years, the company has made available a variety of new types of coverage and provided progressive improvements in underwriting and service practices.

National Life Insurance Company - Life Insurance

In its simplest form, life insurance is a financial product that pays a sum of money to a named beneficiary at the death of an insured individual. Insurance policies called "permanent" or "cash value" insurance develop cash values that grow tax deferred, providing policy owners with a benefit they can use during their lifetime. Insurance proceeds are generally paid free from income taxes and they are not subject to probate. Thus, life insurance proceeds pass quickly and directly to the beneficiary.

The National Life Group's member companies offer various types of life insurance, each designed to meet specific personal and business needs and objectives.

Individual Term Products

Term insurance pays a death benefit to survivors if the policyholder dies while the contract is in force. Term policies offer only death benefit coverage with no cash value component. Coverage is for a contracted period of time (or term), and is usually contracted for a specified number of years, or to a specific age of the insured.

Level Term: (L) Series

The annual cost of premiums in this series of term products are guaranteed to remain the same for five years and are scheduled to remain level for 10, 15 or 20 years, depending on the specific contract. Premiums may increase annually after the five year guarantee period.
Available Riders: Waiver of Premium (WP)

Level Term (GL) Series

Premiums in this series of term products are guaranteed to remain level for their duration of 10, 15 or 20 years, depending on the specific contract. Level Term (L and GL) Series (Policy Form Nos. 28 and 28KS; MA,MI, NJ – 7381-7386; MA unisex – 7781-7723) are issued by National Life Insurance Company, Montpelier, Vermont.
Available Riders: Waiver of Premium (WP)

Universal Life

Universal life is a form of cash value insurance that allows the buyer to vary premium payments, to pay premiums at any time, in virtually any amount, subject to certain minimums and maximums. Fixed premium payments are not required. Owners of universal life products can reduce or increase the death benefit in these policies and have the flexibility to decide the size and frequency of payments, as long as the total amount of premiums paid over a period of time is enough to keep the policy in force. As policyholders get older, the minimum premium payment may increase.

Since cash values grow in a universal life policy, cash accumulates tax deferred, providing a valuable benefit. Cash values earn both a guaranteed interest rate plus the potential for additional interest, reflecting the company's investment earnings.

NaviTrak

NaviTrak is a universal life contract providing both death benefit and premium flexibility. Cash value in the policy accumulates at a guaranteed rate of interest written into the contract. A combination of factors, including superior investment earnings by the company, expenses and mortality experience, may also result in additional interest over and above the guaranteed rate. This total current interest rate is set on a monthly basis, is credited to the policy's cash value.

NaviTrak (Policy Form Nos. 6557 & 6558 unisex) is issued by National Life Insurance Company, Montpelier, Vermont. This policy is not available in New Jersey.

Available Riders: Accelerated Benefits Rider (ABR); Accidental Death Benefit (ADB); Additional Insurance Option (AIO); Additional Protection Benefit (APB); Guaranteed Death Benefit (GDB); Waiver of Monthly Deductions (WMD) and Automatic Increase Rider (AIR);

The product is very suitable for basic insurance or mortgage protection and riders may be added to the product which can help policyholders plan for a variety of potential future needs.

Variable Life

The benefits from a Variable Life Insurance policy (both the death benefit and cash values) vary, based on the investment performance of the assets into which premiums are invested, and may lose value. Owners of variable life insurance policies can allocate premiums among a variety of investments offering different degrees of risk and reward, including stocks, bonds, combinations of both, or accounts that guarantee interest and principal. Guarantees are dependent upon the claims paying ability of the issuer. Customers will always receive a prospectus when considering the purchase of this product.
